WHEN I RETURNED TO SEATTLE IN 2017 AFTER LIVING IN LOS ANGELES, I WAS EXCITED - ALTHOUGH APPREHENSIVE -  ABOUT RECONNECTING WITH OLD FRIENDS FROM HIGH SCHOOL. AFTER ALMOST 8 YEARS AWAY AND THE LARGE AMOUNT OF LIFE EXPERIENCED DURING THAT TIME, BOTH MYSELF AND THE PEOPLE I KNEW BACK HOME HAD GROWN AND CHANGED QUITE DRAMATICALLY. WITHIN A YEAR OR SO, FILLED WITH MANY FAILED PURSUITS AT RE-ESTABLISHING RELATIONSHIPS, I EXPRESSED MY FRUSTRATIONS TO A CO-WORKER AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS EXPERIENCE WAS NOT UNCOMMON IN THE CITY AND THAT IT EVEN HAD A NAME: THE SEATTLE FREEZE.

THERE’S SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY FREEZER (2019) IS A COLLABORATION WITH TWO OF MY OLDEST AND CLOSEST CHILDHOOD FRIENDS, CHRIS AND NATHAN, WHO NOTABLY WEREN’T LIVING IN SEATTLE AT THE TIME. WE DECIDED TO EXPLORE WHAT I HAD BEEN EXPERIENCING IN THE SAME WAY WE USED TO SPEND TIME TOGETHER GROWING UP - MAKING VIDEOS. TO ME, THIS FILM SYMBOLIZES MY ATTEMPT TO EXORCISE THE PERSONAL ISSUES I WAS HAVING SOCIALLY AT THE TIME, AND IN THE END I BELIEVE IT DID THE TRICK. AS THE MONTHS PASSED FOLLOWING THE SHOOT, I BEGAN TO NOTICE FLYERS FOR THE LOCAL SIGHTINGS FILM FESTIVAL STAPLED TO TELEPHONE POLES ON MY WALK TO WORK. I DECIDED TO SUBMIT OUR FILM, AND TO MY SURPRISE IT WAS ACCEPTED. SLOWLY, I BEGAN TO FEEL BETTER ABOUT MOVING HOME.
